Biography

Doug Morris joined Indiana Wesleyan University in August of 2013 as the founding chair of the occupational therapy program. Prior to moving to Indiana, Doug taught for nearly 15 years in the occupational therapy program at Florida Gulf Coast University.

As the child of missionary parents, he was born and raised in India and lived in Asia until he graduated from high school. He spent four years in the U.S. Army following high school. After his departure from the Army, he attended college at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he completed a bachelor's degree in Health Science and a master's degree in occupational therapy. Professor Morris received his Ph.D. in Health Sciences from Touro University International in 2007.

He served as the occupational therapist on a multi-disciplinary treatment team at one of the nation's largest outpatient spina bifida clinics. Doug has provided occupational therapy services to homecare clients in Pennsylvania and geriatric residents at skilled nursing facilities in Pennsylvania and Florida. Prior to moving from Pittsburgh to Florida, he served as an adjunct faculty member to the occupational therapy program at his alma mater. His leisure pursuits include a love of fishing, traveling and spending family time with his wife and adult children.
