Biography

Terry Neal has a doctorate in Adult and Community Education from Ball State University with a cognate in Nursing Education. She earned a B.S. in Nursing as well as an M.S. in Primary Care Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. Dr. Neal has been a family nurse practitioner since 1996. For most of her career, Dr. Neal's clinical practice was in an urgent care center in Marion. She volunteers regularly at Bridges to Health, an indigent clinic in Marion and fills in at the IWU Health Center as needed.

In 2001, Dr. Neal felt the call to teach at Indiana Wesleyan University. God was gracious, and Dr. Neal became the coordinator for the family nurse practitioner program.  In 2013, she became the coordinator of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and now serves as the Associate Director of Doctoral Programs in the Division of Graduate Nursing.

Dr. Neal has two beautiful daughters who also live in Marion. Each has earned a baccalaureate as well as a master's degree from IWU. One is in nursing (a family nurse practitioner and full time faculty in the School of Nursing at IWU), and the other is a director of a department at IWU. Both are married and are wonderful Christian leaders within their families and community. Two grandchildren and a grand-son-in-law round out the close-knit family.

Dr. Neal became a Christian at the age of nine. While neither of her parents were Christians at the time, her uncle always made it a point to take her to Sunday School. When Dr. Neal's family moved to a town nearly an hour away from her uncle's church, her dad would take her to church every week and visit with former neighbors until church was out. Thanks be to God, her parents were both saved when Dr. Neal was a teenager. From that time on, it seemed like her family never left church at all!

Dr. Neal has played the piano and sung in church since the age of 12. Dr. Neal currently participates in the worship team at her local church and sings with her daughters in a group called Chosen. God has been so good. Dr. Neal is aware that while she could never merit God's grace, she is so thankful that His grace has been more than sufficient! Dr. Neal considers it an added blessing to be employed at IWU where she is not only permitted but actually encouraged to pray for and with her students.
