Biography

Dr. Sarah Jones teaches introductory and advanced special education courses in general disabilities, public policy, instructional methods, and behavior management. Dr. Jones’s classes are designed to reflect the belief that Christ has called all people into relationship; that the primary work of Christ’s disciples is to live out that relationship and break down barriers for others to do the same; and that living out love means creating space for neurodiversity within all aspects of human life.

Dr. Jones completed her Ph.D. through Purdue University in 2014, after completing undergraduate and master's degrees through Indiana Wesleyan University. Her research interests include instructional methods that provide access to the depth of the general education curriculum, as well as the role of empathy in behavior management. Dr. Jones is active in College Wesleyan Church's outreach ministry to Frances Slocum Elementary School, including serving as a mentor through Kids Hope and as a curriculum writer and teacher for the Sounds of Hope children’s choir.

Dr. Jones enjoys talking with students inside and outside the class environment as they explore their understanding of the world and their place within it. Dr. Jones and her husband, Greg, are passionate about mentoring younger married and engaged couples in pursuing strong marriages. They are also avid fans of Dr. Who, Star Trek, J.K. Rowling, and the Cincinnati Reds.
