Betsye Robinette

Biography

Dr. Robinette is a full professor of Psychology. She was educated and practiced as both a clinical psychologist and as a school psychologist before coming to teach at IWU. Dr. Robinette has created several new courses for the Psychology Department, including General Psychology 2 (for majors), Play therapy, Child Life and the History of Psychology in Europe. She was instrumental in beginning the Child Life concentration within the Psychology major. She is a native Tennessean and has a wonderful son, daughter-in-law, and is soon to be a grandmother!

Interests

Dr. Robinette is interested in researching issues involving early childhood attachment, faith development and emotional intelligence. Currently she is investigating the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale and the impact of international travel on college students. She has also spent several years trying to start a Child Development Lab on the IWU campus. For the last 20 years, Dr. Robinette has researched and presented original research yearly at annual national conventions for other psychologists, academicians and other mental health professionals.
