Bachelor of Science in Nursing - RNBSN

Admission Requirements

  1. High school graduation or GED certification.
  2. Official transcripts from all previous college or university studies at regionally accredited colleges or universities.
  3. Must have met one of the following degree or diploma requirements:
    1. An Associate degree with a major in Nursing with at least 60 transferable credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university; ~OR~
    2. A diploma from a state Board of Nursing-accredited hospital school of nursing. A maximum of 40 credit hours may be transferred; ~OR~
    3. An Associate Degree with a major in Nursing or equivalent degree from a proprietary college with national accreditation. A maximum of 40 credit hours of supporting science and nursing courses may be transferred.
  4. The applicant must be currently employed as a licensed RN (either full- or part-time) or have at least one year of prior work experience as a licensed LPN or RN (either full- or part-time).
  5. Proof of current unencumbered RN licensure (USA).
  6. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 from all previous college studies. If an applicant's GPA is below 2.0, the student may be admitted on a probationary basis, as established by the guidelines of the School of Nursing.

Computer Requirements

NEW! Effective for site-based classes starting after October 1, 2009, students will need access to a computer and high-speed internet in order to utilize Blackboard, a learning managment software system. This student-friendly software will enable students to receive grades, course materials, and other information. See the following computer requirements.

  • Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Standard (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • 1 GHz CPU
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 30 GB Hard Drive
  • DVD-ROM
  • Sound card and speakers
  • 1024 x 768 resolution monitor
  • Internet access with 56K modem (Broadband highly recommended)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, Netscape 7.1, or Firefox 2.0.x
  • Administrative access to a PC (in order to have the ability to install course-specific software)
NOTE: Apple/Mac users need access to a PC with Microsoft Windows because course textbooks have supplemental CDs/DVDs that WILL NOT work on or install to Apple computers.

Progression Requirements

  1. Students must complete each individual core course with a grade of "C" or higher.
  2. To progress in the major, post-licensure RNBSN students must have obtained a core GPA of at least 2.75 by the end of the third course.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Completion of 124 semester hours, including 30 semester hours of Liberal Arts courses as follows:
    • 6 semester credits in Philosophy/Religion/Biblical Literature (3 of the 6 credits MUST be in Biblical Literature)
    • 9 semester credits in English/Composition/Speech/Literature
    • 6 semester credits in Social Sciences
    • 3 semester credits in Math
    • 3 semester credits in Science
    • 3 semester credits in Fine Arts/Foreign Language
  2. Completion of core courses with a grade of "C" or better in each and a GPA of 2.75 or higher, and an overall cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
  3. Payment of all tuition and fees.

Liberal Arts

Liberal Arts courses are offered through Indiana Wesleyan University and are available at many sites throughout Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and online.

Services Available

The following services are available ONLY after the application process is complete.
  1. Consultation with the Academic Advisor.
  2. Credits for prior learning.
  3. CLEP or DANTES testing for credits.
  4. Transfer credits.
