WIWU TV51 WIWU-TV Programs Available To Comcast Indiana Viewers

Community programming from WIWU-TV in Marion is now available to Comcast Digital Cable viewers in Indiana at no additional cost.

WIWU-TV, owned and operated by Indiana Wesleyan University, produces more than 220 hours of local and regional programming each year focused on the Grant County and north-central Indiana areas.

This special agreement with Comcast makes a number of these programs available to Comcast customers through their “On Demand” service. WIWU shows can be watched at the viewer’s convenience, anytime, with the ability to pause, fast-forward or rewind selections.

WIWU-TV programs are available through Comcast’s On Demand library in the “Get Local” category. The programs include:

  • Crossroads, an award-winning weekly newsmagazine covering Indiana people and places.
  • Fireside Sketches, an art show with internationally known nature painter Rod Crossman, who is the artist-in-residence at IWU.
  • Good Hoosier Cooking, which focuses on recipes unique to Indiana.
  • The Message from College Wesleyan Church in Marion, featuring the ministry of Pastor Steve DeNeff.

WIWU-TV also will provide selected athletic events throughout the year from IWU, including volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer and the nationally ranked men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The partnership between WIWU-TV and Comcast came after a series of meetings last summer.

“Comcast is committed to serving its viewers with unique, local programming, and that is why they are very interested in what we do at WIWU-TV,” said Randall King, Director of Broadcast Media for IWU.

“If you watch WIWU-TV, you will see positive programs that connect to the good things going on in our area, and these shows are produced with professionalism by our staff and the students studying communication at the University,” he said.

Comcast’s Indianapolis region provides digital television, high-speed Internet and digital voice services throughout Indiana in systems stretching from Fort Wayne to Bloomington and Richmond to Terre Haute. Comcast customers who want to receive “On Demand” programming must have a digital cable set-top box.

In the Grant County area, WIWU-TV airs on Channel 51 or Channel 23 on Bright House Cable.
