A Weekend to Remember
Last weekend, hundreds of alumni put First Things First and returned to campus for Homecoming 2008. Homecoming “weekend” started early last Thursday with a student parade through downtown Marion that ended with a warm bonfire reception at President Smith’s home. On Friday, soloist Fernando Ortega teamed up with the IWU Chorale to treat alums and students to an evening of music, which included a second concert with Jon McLaughlin. Luncheons, banquets, receptions and reunions were held throughout the weekend for various classes from 1948 through 2008, as were a World Impact Reception and an Adult and Graduate Studies Networking Reception. An all-day fair made Homecoming a family affair on Saturday while visitors enjoyed Wildcat intercollegiate cross country and soccer. Alumni weekend warriors who couldn’t just stand along the sidelines got back into the game, participating in baseball, softball, soccer, basketball and tennis with fellow alums.
A fitting ending to a Homecoming weekend.
Thanks, alums, for making Homecoming 2008 a weekend to remember.
