Kerry Kind Receives Honorary Degree at IWU Graduation
By Alan Miller

The Rev. Kerry Kind, General Director of Education and the Ministry for The Wesleyan Church, received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree during graduation ceremonies Saturday (Dec, 16) at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.

Rev. Kind spoke at three ceremonies during which 1,505 students received degrees. Most of the December graduates earned their degrees through IWU’s adult education programs.

Rev. Kind earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in communications from Purdue University. He has Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Rev. Kind served as a Wesleyan pastor and a missionary to Africa before assuming his current job in 1997. He now serves as the denominational liaison for the five colleges and universities sponsored by The Wesleyan Church, and his department is responsible for establishing qualifications for Wesleyan pastors.

Rev. Kind and his wife, Jule, have three children, all of them IWU graduates. Mrs. Kind, also an IWU graduate, is the Director of Off Campus Library Services for IWU’s adult education programs.

Almost 3,000 students are enrolled in traditional programs on IWU’s main campus in Marion. Another 11,000 adult learners are pursuing degrees at multiple sites – including 13 regional campuses in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky – and via online programs.

Alan Miller is the University Relations Director at Indiana Wesleyan University.
