IWU Has Record Enrollment for 19th Straight Year
A record 13,917 students are enrolled for fall semester classes in Indiana Wesleyan University's three colleges. It is the 19th consecutive year that IWU, now Indiana's largest private college, has reported a record enrollment.
The 2006 numbers represent a 10 percent increase from last year's enrollment of 12,632 students.
Enrollment on the Marion campus stands at 2,935 - an increase of about 4 percent from a year ago. More students also are living on campus, 2,330 this year compared to 2,202 a year ago.
In recent years, the balance of students attending classes on IWU's Marion campus has shifted from commuter to residential. In 1995, about 53 percent of students lived on campus compared to 79 percent this year.
Enrollment in IWU's adult education programs, which began in 1985, topped 10,000 for the first time this year. Classes for adults meet at sites throughout Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky - and online.
