About 1,300 Indiana Wesleyan University students received diplomas during three graduation ceremonies Dec. 17 at Luckey Arena on the Marion campus. Almost 1,200 of the graduates earned their degrees through IWU's adult programs.
Donald L. Palmer, chairman of Palmer Automotive Group, spoke at all three graduations and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Management degree.
Palmer has served as president of the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Marketing Association and the Indianapolis Private Industry Council. He also has been active in numerous Christian organizations in the Indianapolis area and was co-founder of the Indianapolis Faith leadership Services.
In addition to the December ceremonies, IWU also had three graduations in April and two in August. The December graduates bring to 3,420 the number of students who have received IWU degrees in 2005 - the second year that graduates have topped 3,000.
About 2,850 students are enrolled in traditional programs on IWU's main campus in Marion. More than 9,800 adult learners are pursuing degrees at multiple sites - including 10 regional campuses in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky - and via online programs.
