Todd Ream
Ream named Christian Scholar’s Review book editor

IWU associate professor of humanities Dr. Todd Ream was recently selected as the new book review editor for Christian Scholar’s Review. Ream, who is also associate director of IWU’s John Wesley Honors College in the College of Arts & Sciences, will share the responsibility with Baylor University professor Perry Glanzer, Ream’s co-author on many publications.

Christian Scholar’s Review is a national cross-disciplinary journal designed to showcase the integration of faith and scholarship of and for Christian faculty across the country. The acceptance rate for submissions to the journal is around 20 percent.

Reader of CSR throughout his career

"Serving in this capacity allows me to give back to a publication and a community that has done so much to form my understanding of the ways that faith and learning relate," says Ream. "I started my career 15 years ago at Messiah College. They provided their employees with copies of CSR, and the journal proved to be an inextricable part of their institutional culture. Although I have now served at three other institutions, I have been fortunate enough to receive the journal ever since. Generations of scholars have been generous with their time to make CSR available. I believe my generation is beginning to enter into an era when we are called to give something back."

Says new role will keep him current

In addition to working with students in the Honors College, Ream also serves on the executive committee of the University’s Scholarship Council and on the Faculty Development Council. He has a B.A. in religion from Baylor University, an M.Div. from Duke University and a Ph.D. in higher education from The Pennsylvania State University.

"The commitment which defines my vocation as a Christian scholar is to always be open to more imaginative and faithful ways of seeing how God's hand is at work in the created order," he says. "CSR carries a comparable purpose. While serving as the book review editor will take considerable time, such efforts will also immediately impact the quality of my teaching and my own scholarship as I will be pressed to stay even more current with the literature in the field."
