IWU’s Annual Telesale Raises Record Amount

Indiana Wesleyan University’s Eighth Annual Scholarship Telesale, which ended Friday night, raised a record $140,000 – about $6,000 more than a year ago.

The telesale aired five nights on IWU’s campus TV station and on six cable TV systems in Grant, Blackford, Wabash and Howard counties. Area merchants and friends of IWU donated about 800 items valued in excess of $100,000 for the telesale.

About half of the money raised during the telesale came from the sale of merchandise, and the remaining revenue came from business sponsorships. Several business and community leaders volunteered their time to help sell the donated items.

The telesale has raised about $720,000 for student scholarships in its eight-year history. Successful bidders should call the IWU Development Office at 677-2106 to arrange a time to pick up merchandise.
