IWU to Open Second Indianapolis Education Center Indiana Wesleyan University will open a new education center Nov. 1 to better serve students who live or work on the west side of Indianapolis. The 17,500-square-foot facility will be located at 6325 Digital Way, Suite 222, near the 71st Street exit of I-465. IWU also has an education center that opened in 1997 at 3777 Priority Way South Drive, in the Precedent Park. Classes in both Indianapolis education centers will be offered through IWU's College of Adult and Professional Studies, which was established in 1985. Adult classes are held in 70 Indiana cities to reduce travel time for students. Classes are designed to meet the busy lifestyles of working professionals, many of them with families. Almost 7,500 adult learners currently are enrolled in IWU business, management, nursing and education programs. More than 20,000 adults have earned degrees since the program began. Most adult education classes are held evenings and on Saturday and are taught by faculty members who bring appropriate academic credentials and current workplace experience to the classroom. Enrollment in IWU's adult education programs grew 19 percent last year, and the Master of Business Administration and Master of Education programs are the largest in Indiana. IWU also has education centers in Columbus, Kokomo and Fort Wayne, and construction will begin soon on a building in Shelbyville. IWU has out-of-state centers in Louisville, Ky., and Cleveland, Ohio, and plans to open a facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the fall of 2004. |
