Inauguration

IWU will inaugurate Dr. David Wesley Wright as the ninth President on October 4, 2013.

IWU students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends, as well as members of the public, are welcome to attend the event at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel Auditorium. Dignitaries from higher education institutions from throughout the region and from Christian colleges around the country will assemble to celebrate the new president’s formal accession. Verse

About Dr. Wright

Dr. Wright

Dr. David Wesley Wright’s life has reflected the call to service that defines his presidency. Born a missionary kid of Wesleyan missionaries to the Philippines, “Dave” Wright came to Marion College in the 1970s to study Christian Ministries. Dr. Wright earned a master’s degree in Biblical Studies from George Fox University and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Wright has been a pastor, missionary, teacher and denominational leader around the world. At IWU, he helped pioneer online education, writing and piloting the first online course. Dr. Wright was the first provost in the University’s history.

Earlier this year, Dr. David Wesley Wright was chosen as the University’s ninth president by unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees.

Directions

Indiana Wesleyan University's Chapel Auditorium is located on the Residential Campus, near the intersection of SR-9 and SR-37 at 611 East University Blvd., Marion, Indiana.

From Fort Wayne (approximately 70 miles, 1 hour and 15 minutes)

Take I-69 south to SR-22/US-35 (exit 259). Turn right (west) at the bottom of the off ramp and go through Gas City on SR-22/US-35. Turn right (north) onto SR-15 (just across the river beyond Gas City) and go two miles to IWU. SR-15 borders IWU's campus on its east side (South Adams Street) and again on its north side (East 38th Street). IWU's main east entrance is on the left (west) side of Adams Street (one block beyond 45th Street). Turn left (west) onto University Boulevard and turn left again at the stop sign 100 yards ahead. Continue on University Boulevard, around the Phillippe Performing Arts Center to the next stop sign and turn right (west) to continue on University Boulevard.

From Indianapolis (approximately 75 miles, 1 hour and 15 minutes)

Take I-465 around Indianapolis to the northeast corner of the city. I-69 begins at this location and heads north toward Fort Wayne. Take I-69 to SR-22 (exit 259). Turn left (west) at the bottom of the off ramp and go through Gas City on SR-22/US-35. Turn right (north) onto SR-15 (just across the river beyond Gas City) and go two miles to IWU.

Parking

General parking will be located at the Phillippe Performing Arts Center (Lot #11).
Reserved VIP Parking will be available for guests of Dr. Wright. The VIP lot is located between the Barnes Student Center and the Chapel Auditorium (Lot #12).
