Community
Service
Indiana Wesleyan University has been blessed in many ways.
God has brought to IWU men and women after His own heart to
lead the institution through the times we live in. He has
provided IWU with the financial means to keep tuitions rates
reasonable while building quality facilities for its growing
programs in Marion and around the region, and protected IWU
for the many ways Christian universities can lose their focus,
stumble and fall. To God be the glory!
In return, IWU’s faculty, staff and students are pleased
to give of their abundance to their neighbors, and to those
around the world who God’s brings to their attention.
In 1999, the last time a survey of community involvement was
taken of our students, faculty and staff, over 15,000 hours
of service was given to 262 programs/services in Grant County.
Here is a sampling of how in recent months IWU has served
others in Marion, Grant County, the state of Indiana, and
around the world.
Volunteerism– How
faculty, staff, and students, acting out of their desire to
give from what has been given to them, have seen a need and
met it.
Class Projects– One
way IWU students are taught to become world changers is to have
faculty incorporate into their curriculum assignments that require
students to go into their communities and use what they have
learned to help others.
Partnerships– There
are some things that require the full resources of Indiana Wesleyan
University to accomplish. The commitment of time and talent
is so great that IWU’s leadership must make a deliberate
strategic decision to get involved.
