Full-Time Sociology Faculty Position
College of Arts and Sciences
The Division of Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a new full-time Sociologist faculty position beginning in the fall of 2010. Rank and salary are dependent upon educational qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Candidates for this position must have a doctorate in Sociology and preferred candidates will have some coursework or training in Cultural Anthropology or aligned fields. (ABD may be acceptable if the candidate is near completion and with an understanding that the degree must be completed to retain the position.) A record of successful college teaching and scholarly engagement is also preferred. Potential courses to be taught include Principles of Sociology, Minority Group Relations, Cross-Cultural Communication, Cultural Anthropology, and Research Methods. Student advising and related faculty responsibilities are also expected.
The Division of Behavioral Science includes twelve full-time faculty members. The Division offers Bachelor of Science degree programs in Addictions Counseling, Criminal Justice Education, Psychology, Social Work, and Pre-Art Therapy (with the Division of Art). Associate of Science degrees and/or minors are available in Sociology, Addiction Studies, Psychology, and Criminal Justice Education.
The Division is a member of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences & Business, a community of 35 scholars that offers 22 distinct undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Faculty in the School collaborate with their peers in the College of Arts & Sciences to provide a liberal education for its 3,200 residential students.
