Scholarships & Grants
  1. Most scholarships and grants require that a student be enrolled full-time each semester (at least 12 hours per semester).
  2. Institutional funds are not awarded to students with less than a 2.0 high school GPA or transfer GPA.
  3. To continue to receive the scholarship or grant, the student must make satisfactory progress toward a degree.

National Merit Finalist/Semifinalist
Amount: $8,000/year
Must submit a copy of the certificate or letter certifying their status as finalist or semi-finalist. Student must be entering as a freshman and have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5. Renewable by maintaining 3.5 cumulative GPA and completing at least 30 credit hours at IWU during fall, spring and May terms each academic year. May receive only one time at each grade classification. If lost, the award can be reinstated after one academic year if eligibility requirements achieved again.

Freshman Academic Scholarship
Amount: $3000 - 7000/year
  Renewable by maintaining a 3.40 cumulative GPA and completing at least 30 credit hours at IWU during fall, spring and May terms each academic year. May receive only one time at each grade classification. If lost, the award can be reinstated after one academic year if eligibility requirements are achieved again.

Student must meet the minimum requirement in BOTH GPA and scores.

Example: A student with 3.50 GPA (worth 2 points) and 1100 SAT (worth 1 points) would have a total of 3 points and qualify for $3000/yr.
 

Transfer Academic Scholarship
Amount: $2250 - $7000/year

Must have at least 24 credits of transfer work. Scholarship eligibility is determined at the point of admission and will not be updated following completion of additional credits. Students with less than 24 credits must meet the requirements for the Freshman Academic Scholarship. Renewable by maintaining a 3.40 cumulative GPA and completing at least 30 credit hours during fall, spring and May terms each academic year. May receive only one time at each grade classification. If lost, the award can be reinstated after one academic year if eligibility requirements are achieved again.

Presidential Scholarship
Amount: $2000/year
Available only to graduates of Grant County, Indiana high school; must submit application through high school guidance office. Renewable by maintaining a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Must enter IWU the same year as high school graduation. Applications are submitted through high school guidance office.

Valedictorian / Salutatorian Scholarship
Amount: $1000/ $500/year
Submit a copy of high school transcript showing class rank. Non-Renewable.

Athletic Scholarships
Amount: Varies
Awarded on recommendation of coach. For more information contact the athletic department or individual coach.

Music/Art/Theatre Scholarships
Amount: Varies
Awarded on recommendation of Music/Art/Communication Deptartments. For more information contact the Music/Art/Communication Department.

Wesleyan Canadian Scholarship
Amount: Varies
Available only to Wesleyan Canadian Citizens Does not reflect actual par value on any given date, but does assist to offset the effect of the exchange rate.

Federal Pell Grant
Amount: $400 - $4310/year
FAFSA and enroll as at least a half-time student. Amount varies based on student's financial need.

Federal SEOG
Amount: $200 - $4000/year
FAFSA and qualify for Federal Pell Grant and enroll at least half-time Amount is based on student’s financial need.

Indiana State Awards
Amount: $200 - $10900
FAFSA and enroll as a full-time student and be an Indiana resident. FAFSA must be received by processor by March 10th to meet the deadline. Amount is based on financial need.

Indiana Wesleyan University Grant
Amount: Varies
FAFSA FAFSA must be received by processor by March 10th to meet institutional deadline. Amount is based on financial need.

Shugart Grant
Amount: Varies
FAFSA Must reside in Indiana and demonstrate financial need.

Wesleyan International Student Grant
Amount: $3000/year
  NOT available to Canadian students.

Family Tuition Grant
Amount: $1000/year
  Family must have 2 or more household members attending traditional, undergraduate programs full-time at IWU.

Wesleyan Student Grant
Amount: $1000/year
FAFSA Must demonstrate financial need, enroll full-time and attend a Wesleyan church in his/her home community.

Wesleyan Pastor Dependent Grant
Amount: 50% of Tuition
  Parent must be a full-time ordained Wesleyan minister serving in a local church or be a District Superintendent. Award provided though the combination of ALL scholarships and grants from federal, state & institutional programs, excluding academic scholarships and athletic awards. List parent information on the admission application.

Pastor Dependent Grant
Amount: $1800/year
  Parent must be a full-time ordained minister serving in a local church. List parent information on admission application.

Church Matching Scholarship
Amount: up to $750
/year
  IWU matches church's contribution up to $750/academic year. Church must enroll with IWU's Church Relations Office by student's first day of class.

Out-of-State Wesleyan Grant
(for students enrolled fall 2005 or later)
Amount: $2000/year
FAFSA. Student must demonstrate financial need, be a U.S. citizen who is Not an Indiana resident, attend a Wesleyan church in his/her home community.

Wesleyan Missionary Dependent
Amount: 50% of Tuition
FAFSA. Students must demonstrate financial need, reside on campus, be a full-time student, and apply for all other forms of federal and state aid. Parent must serve under direct appointment of Global Partners or through Native American Missions. Student may NOT receive the Out-of-State Wesleyan Grant or Paster Dependant Grant. Award is available for a total of 8 semesters.

Campus Challenge (formerly TNT) - WBB Scholarship
Amount: Varies
Submit original scholarship certificates prior to fall enrollment. Student may use up to $1000/year. If total certificate amount exceeds $4000, student may use 1/4 of the amount each year.

John Wesley Scholarship
Amount: Varies
