Professor Bill Cupp
      Department of Computer
      and Information Sciences

    General Information
Born in Wheeling, West Viriginia, he was raised all his childhood in South Florida. His parents operated a small family business, selling, installing and repairing air conditioning systems. Going off to college, he majored in Economics and Business Finance. As this was coming to an end, he proposed to his best friend, Miss Cindy Ewbank of Orlando, Florida. They were married as he began his naval career, during which time he served on four ships (USS ENGAGE [MSO 433], USS ANTRIM [FFG 20], USS JOSEPH STRAUSS [DDG 16] and USS BELLEAU WOOD [LHA 3]) and several shore assignments. During this time he worked as ship's navigator, communications officer, electronics maintenance officer, radar room officer, operations officer, and chief engineer. Navy duty allowed them the opportunity to reside in Florida, Rhode Island, Virginia, California, Hawaii and overseas in Japan and Canada.

    Professional Career
Prof. Cupp J. William ("Bill") Cupp (bcupp@indwes.edu) served as a career naval officer in the United States Navy, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Commander, before coming to Indiana Wesleyan University in Janaury 1997. An assistant professor, he teaches CIS and Computer Science courses and coordinates the activities of the Department, which has about two dozen majors.

    Accomplishments and Interests
Bill's last assignment in the Navy was to Foreign Duty as the sole American faculty member at Canada's military academy, the Royal Military College of Canada, in Kingston, Ontario.

From there he felt called to pursue a second career in academics and was pleased to come to Indiana Wesleyan University. He loves living in a small town and working on a campus where Jesus Christ is Lord. He and Cindy are busy raising three daughters and exploring the history and heritage of the area. Bill's hobbies include computers (of course!), genealogy, and puttering about the yard.

Bill invites you to stop by his Personal Web Page to hear more sea stories or learn what he's been thinking about recently.
