CCCU Center for Research in Adult Learning
CCCU Center for Adult Learning Policies and Procedures
Policies Regarding Qualifications for Participation in the Center Activities
- Conference attendance is open to any interested persons. However, people from non-CCCU member or affiliate schools will pay a higher conference fee.
- Participation in Center Research Projects is open to any Christ-centered adult-focused higher education program. However, there will likely be a higher participation fee for non-CCCU member or affiliate schools.
- Proposals to conduct or present research must have a CCCU partner. A researcher from a non-CCCU member or affiliate school can partner with someone at a CCCU member or affiliate school in order to conduct or present a collaborative project. The CCCU researcher does not need to be the principal investigator, but must participate in some way
Procedures for Submitting Research Proposals
- Each December the Steering Committee will set a research agenda and circulate it to constituents.
- Interested parties may complete a research proposal using the form available on the website. To qualify, a CCCU member or affiliate school must at least be a partner in the research by participating in some way (see Qualifications for Participation above).
- Research proposals are not limited to the set agenda, but these topics will be given special consideration.
- A subcommittee of the Steering Committee will review the proposal, considering the qualifications of the researcher(s), "do-ability," and need for research. The subcommittee will make a recommendation to the Steering Committee.
- The full Steering Committee will vote on the proposal.
- Center will assist with surveys, and data analysis
- Researchers may analyze existing data housed at the Center (Entrance/exit, alumni surveys)
- Center will lend name as an endorsement of the research and provide a venue to disseminate the results in their conferences, publications and website.
Procedures for Submitting Conference Proposals
- Conference proposals are encouraged on any topic related to adult education, but special consideration is given to topics related to the research agenda set by the Steering Committee.
- A Call for Proposals is issued about six months in advance of a conference. It is circulated to all constituents.
- Interested parties may complete a presentation proposal using the form available on the website. To qualify a CCCU member or affiliate school must participate in the presentation in some way. (See Qualifications for Participation above).
- The Proposal will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the Steering Committee, evaluating the qualifications of the presenter(s), usefulness to the audience, relevance to the Center’s research agenda, and need for the topic in the Conference program.
- Presenters will be notified of the subcommittee’s decision at least two months before the conference.
