MATCHING SCHOLARSHIPS
Guidelines
1.
Any church providing a scholarship for its students may participate in the Church
Matching Scholarship (CMS) program.
2. Students must maintain satisfactory academic
progress.
3. Students must be traditional, undergraduate students and enrolled a minimum of 6 credit hours
in order to receive a CMS grant from IWU.
4. Matching funds cannot exceed
a student's total cost.
5. Students need not complete the
FAFSA (the federal financial aid form) to receive funds from the CMS program.
Process
This
process must be followed each year. Doing it the first year will not qualify the
student for subsequent years. Each year the church must notify IWU before June 30* of their intentions of giving another scholarship to its student(s).
1.
Student petitions his or her home church. This is ideally completed before
May 31 for church scholarship funds for the next academic year. He or she
should follow the process his or her church has established to apply for church
scholarship funds. If no process has been established the student should print
out the Student Application form
posted on this website, complete it, and submit it to his or her church scholarship
committee or youth pastor for consideration.
2. Church notifies IWU of
upcoming scholarship.
The church must notify IWU's Church Relations Office
of its upcoming scholarship award prior to June 30*. This is accomplished by the
church completing the Award
Application Form and submitting directly on IWU's website, or mailing the
completed form to the Church Relations Office. (IWU recommends that the student
follow up with the church in May to be sure it submits this form prior to
June 30*.) Note: Each year the church must submit another form for each returning
student.
*Please note, June 30 is our preferred date for timely processing. However, we will accept and match awards received prior to the first day of fall classes annually.
