CHURCH
MATCHING SCHOLARSHIPS
Although the typical
Christian university holds its expenses down so their cost to educate a student
is less than it costs the typical state university experiences, the tuition rates
students are asked to pay at a state university is usually much less because much
of the state university's expenses are paid with tax dollars. However,
thanks to grants and scholarships, the amount a student pays for tuition at a
Christian university is often reduced to a level that makes attendance possible.
For example, at IWU over 75 percent of its students receive some form of financial aid,
and almost a third of IWU students receive scholarships from their home church. Indiana
Wesleyan University wants to encourage churches that support their high school
graduates financially when they choose to attend a Christian university. Through
IWU's Church Matching Scholarship program IWU matches dollar-for-dollar church
scholarships up to $750 per student, per year. Last year this meant that $468,000
contributed by churches was matched and became $936,000 of financial aid! |
