Rick Carder joined the Advancement team September 1st, 2006 as Alumni Relations Director of our Traditional Alum. He graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1987 and completed his Masters Degree in 2003. He was a Pastor in the Wesleyan Church for nineteen years. Additionally, he has served in community-based compassion ministries. His relational and ministry experience has brought a personal touch to our team. His responsibilities include making a connection with IWU Alumni. Rick has said, "The opportunity to build meaningful relationships with Alum of my alma mater is a wonderful privilege. I consider it an honor to serve my Lord in this capacity."

He is married to Cindi (Rumsey) Carder (Marion College '85) and has three children (Jon, 17; Jeremiah, 14; Josslyn, 10). They live in Van Buren and attend the Brookhaven Wesleyan Church where they were married in 1987. His hobbies include family activities, collecting rare religious books and sipping coffee while fellowshipping with good friends.

Lonnie Vandeventer

Lonnie Vandeventer is our new Adult & Graduate Studies (AGS) Director joining the team on March 19, 2007. He received his BS in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University in December 2003. He also earned his associate's degree in Business from IWU in May 2002. Lonnie was the recipient of the Outstanding Professional Award in both instances. He is currently pursuing his MBA as well.

Lonnie brings over 30 years of sales and sales management experience to his new role. He recently worked with the University of Phoenix-Indianapolis Campus as an Enrollment Counselor and with Prepress Training Solution, Bloomington, IN in sales and customer service of online, interactive training tutorials specific to the print and graphic design industry working with customers worldwide.

Lonnie comes to IWU with a love for the university. He was first encouraged by his son Clark who was a student at the time and is now a member of the President's Advisory Council on Excellence. His participation in AGS, in pursuit of his own degree, also fostered a dream to serve the Lord at IWU in some capacity. He forecast his future aspirations to his peers during a class assignment in 2002. That dream has now been realized as he takes on this new role.

Lonnie is excited at the opportunity to serve the Lord and to help increase AGS Alumni involvement in the continued growth of the university.

Lonnie and Janet Vandeventer have recently moved to the Marion area from Martinsville, IN where they lived for the past 29 years. In addition to Clark, they have three additional adult sons, Christopher, Clayton, and Carl and two grandsons, Hayden James and Jackson Wayne.
