Facebook: IWU Alumni World Changers

In order for us here at the IWU Alumni Association to better serve you we have created a FACEBOOK GROUP specifically designed for you alumni of Indiana Wesleyan University!

We would like to invite you to join us!

We also invite you to become a "fan" of our Indiana Wesleyan University Alumni Association.

We know this may be a new venture for most of you so we have created a tutorial to make this process as simple as possible. It's as easy as 1-2-3!

To begin, click on this URL: www.facebook.com

1. In the bottom right corner you will find a section titled "Sign Up." Fill out the information requested and then click the sign-up box.
   
   
2. Afer you have clicked this box, you will need to confirm your account using the e-mail address you provided the form.
   
   
3. In the confirmation message sent to your e-mail address, click on the URL which will send you directly to your new Facebook account to finish the creation process.
   
   
4. Once you have created your Facebook account, you will be presented with a screen containing a box that says "View and Edit Your Profile." Click this box. This will allow you to decorate and enhance your profile. You may include things such as:
   • Basic Information (birthday, hometown, religion, etc...)
   • Personal Information (interests, hobbies, etc...)
   • Contact Information (phone number, address, e-mail, etc...)
   • Education and Work
     
     
   Note: You may include as much or as little information as you like. Consider your privacy and security before putting information online.
   
   
5. Want to add a picture to your profile?
   • In the top left corner you will find a silhouette of a head. Below this you will see the phrase "Upload Picture." By clicking this, you will be able to upload a picture from your computer and onto your profile.
     
     
6. Need Friends?
   • On the top toolbar of your Facebook profile you will find a list of words including (from left): Home, Profile, Friends, [Your Name], Settings, Log-out
     
     
   • Click on "Home." Here you will see the phrase "Find People you Know." Click this.
     
     
   • By going here you will be able to search for people by name, organization, school, etc...
     
     
   • Another way to add friends would be to go to "Home" on your top toolbar. Once you are in the new screen, you will see in the top right corner a box titled "Invite Friends." Here you will be able to send a message to your friends' e-mail addresses asking them to join Facebook.
     
     
7. Not wanting everyone to see your profile? Then make it private!
   • By making your profile private you will only allow your "friends" to see your profile.
     
     
   • To do this:
     1. Scroll over the word "Settings" on the top toolbar until a drop down bar appears. Click on "Privacy Settings."
        
        
     2. Once that page appears, click on "Profile."
        
        
     3. Here you will find a list of things including [Profile, Basic Information, etc...]. You can decide whether or not to allow "everyone" or "only friends" to see your profile. After deciding this, click "Save Changes."
        
        
8. Now that you have done this, click on either "Home" or "Profile" located on your top toolbar. Here you will be able to begin your new venture into the world of Facebook!

Important:

Facebook has enabled users who have an @indwes.edu email account to join using their e-mail. This enables users to become part of a shared network. Indiana Wesleyan University does not provide e-mail addresses for users who are not students, faculty, or staff. Users must register their account using their own active personal e-mail address.
