Outright Gift

Outright Gifts offer one of the simplest ways for you to make a charitable gift. They provide the largest possible charitable contribution deduction for income tax purposes. They also yield immediate benefits to Indiana Wesleyan University.

- Gifts of Cash - Can be made with cash, check or credit card. If you itemize your deductions, you can claim a charitable deduction up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. If you are an Indiana resident, you can receive up to $200 tax credit if you are married and file jointly with a $400 cash gift.

- Gifts of Appreciated Stock - Ideal when the current worth is more now than when you acquired them. You can receive double tax savings when gifting actual stocks to IWU. First, you can receive the full deduction for the value of the shares. You will also avoid capital gains tax on the amount the stock shares increased while you held them.

- Gifts of Appreciated Real Estate - This is a common gift to IWU. There are several methods in which you can gift real estate:

- You may gift it outright to the university.
- You may complete a bargain sale to IWU.
- You may make it part of a life estate gift.
- You may donate your real estate to fund a gift annuity.
- You may donate your real estate to fund a charitable unitrust.

For any questions you may have on giving an Outright Gift, please contact us. We will be glad to help you.
