16th Annual Chaparral

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
October 13-17, 2008

We've planned a perfect get away for our sixteenth annual Indiana Wesleyan Chaparral. Escape with us to Lancaster County in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country where a simple way of life means a world of simple pleasures to share. You will lose yourselves along the back roads as you are transported to another time, among breathtakingly scenic farmlands, romantic covered bridges and Amish life. Many fun activities are planned for your enjoyment.

Willow Valley Resort

Warm memories will be created as you experience your stay at Willow Valley Resort, where you are treated like family. Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, the warm and friendly hospitality stands unparalleled. A wonderful gathering place awaits you in the comfortable and elegant lobby. You can relax by the fire, enjoy the view overlooking Palm Court or meet up with friends. A nine hole executive golf course with its well-tendered greens and beautiful landscapes will provide a serene and relaxing environment. You will find Willow Valley to be a destination in itself.

Kreider Farm Tour

A unique tour awaits you at Kreider Farms which is nestled in the beautiful Manheim farming valley. You will see a high-tech view of farming including a drive down the middle of a Titanic-sized loafing barn, otherwise known as the cow palace where you will get a bird's eye view of the 54 cow milking merry-go-round. Packed with stories and humor, the tour introduces you to modern farming at its best. The tour ends with a rich and creamy batch of churned ice cream on a cone.

Longwood Gardens

You will love the breathtaking setting of Longwood Gardens, the world's premier horticultural showplace. Longwood's 1,050 acres of natural woodlands, majestic gardens, rich conservatories and dancing fountains are sure to be another highlight of your visit to Pennsylvania. The theme, "Everything Autumn" presents giant pumpkins, tractors, an amazing miniature garden railway and thousands of mums which compliment nature's brilliant foliage during this fun fall festival. Have your cameras ready for action, for you are sure to want pictures of this beautiful site.

Who Are The Amish

The delicious aroma of a wonderful home cooked meal in an Amish home is something you can look forward to on our next adventure. We will travel off the "tourist route" on our guided tour through back roads that lead to Amish farmlands and homes and also hear the explanation of their beliefs, lifestyle and culture. You will be seeing a beautiful, entertaining and highly informative threescreen feature called Who Are The Amish, which captures the history and soul of the Amish people. As time permits the tour will also include stops to see crafts of the people and places of interest.

Gettysburg

You will get a deeper, more lasting appreciation for the events and meaning of Gettysburg when we visit the sacred ground of America's most revered Civil War battlefield. Walking the paths of the beautiful and reverent National Cemetery manages to bring everything we feel and cherish about Gettysburg into focus as few other places can. Personal tour guides will make the battle come alive and give you an experience you will not forget. We will visit the New Gettysburg Museum and Visitors Center, and see state-of-the-art exhibits that will immerse you in the stories of the Civil War era, as well as of the battle.

Sight and Sound Theatre

Imagine you are standing in the Garden of Eden watching as its breathtaking beauty is being created! You will be in awe when you experience the dawn of creation at the Sight and Sound Theatre as it presents the most unforgettable biblical account of the creation of the world! In The Beginning is enhanced by magnificent staging, stirring musical compositions and captivating live animals. The stage will bring to life a world more fantastic than the greatest of imaginations. The theatre features a 300 foot long wrap around stage and state-of-the-art lighting, along with amazing sound and special effects.

Please plan to come, relax and have a great time with us in Lancaster County. What a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, vacation and fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ! The price includes your lodging, most of your meals, the group tours and entertainment. We look forward to seeing you and creating great memories together.
