Spanish

Did you know that the United States is the fifth-largest Spanish-speaking country in the world? That the Latino population here and worldwide is increasing rapidly? That opportunities for multilingual professionals are endless?

The Indiana Wesleyan University Spanish major is designed to help students develop proficiency in the communication, cultures, connections, and communities important to the Spanish language. To meet these goals, our major emphasizes practical applications and service learning experiences. It equips students to be world changers through the power of the Spanish language.

Spanish majors complete courses covering the language, history, culture, and literature of Spanish-speaking countries, as well as Spanish electives and a foreign study experience. Additionally, students complete a cognate in another field such as History, Religion, Intercultural Studies, or a second foreign language. Students may also choose to minor in Spanish as a supplement to another IWU major.

If you are excited about the possibilities for Spanish-speaking professionals and desire to deepen your love for this language and culture, we invite you to consider the Spanish program at Indiana Wesleyan University.
