  • Presidential Search Update

    March 15, 2013

The Presidential Search Committee is continuing to meet and review applications, and will soon begin the interview process. While we have several well-qualified candidates in the pool, we want to be certain that all those interested have had an opportunity to indicate that interest. If you or someone you know wishes to be considered for the Presidency, we encourage you to go to the website and complete your application within the next several days.

Please continue to pray daily that we will know God's leading as we move forward in the selection process.

    Karen Hollenbeck, Chair
    IWU President Search Committee

    February 25, 2013

Thank you for the many prayers that are being offered every week as we continue the search for IWU's 9th President. I recently learned that IWU has designated Monday noon as time for prayer and fasting for the presidential search. Individuals come to the "prayer loft" in the Chapel Auditorium to pray during this time. The Presidential Search is also a focus of the Wednesday morning prayer walks. We are so grateful for a community that prays and believes that God will lead us to the person He has chosen for this important role.

Applications are arriving and the Search Team has begun reviewing them using an electronic system that allows each of us to review independently without being influenced by other members. Over a series of meetings during March-May, we anticipate continually refining the list of top candidates until we are ready to present a finalist to the IWU community.

Please continue to pray with us as we make decisions that will impact IWU for years to come!

    Karen Hollenbeck, Chair
    IWU President Search Committee

    January 14, 2013

The Search Committee, through our consultant Search Firm, EFL Associates, is now ready to receive applications for the position of President of Indiana Wesleyan University.

In addition to spending much time in prayer, the past weeks have been devoted to receiving input from the IWU community on the qualities and characteristics desired in the new President. These have been incorporated into the attached Presidential Search Prospectus, along with a summary of IWU’s history and the Opportunities and Challenges we see at the present time.

Anyone interested in applying or nominating someone is encouraged to review the Prospectus. Instructions for submitting applications and/or questions are included on the final page.

We continue to encourage each of you to join us in praying for the process, the people involved in finding, interviewing, and recommending a finalist to the Board of Trustees and the person God is calling to be the next President of IWU.

    December 18, 2012

Over the past weeks, the Presidential Search Committee has been busy gathering information, requesting and reviewing proposals, and interviewing search firms to partner with them in the search for IWU’s 9th President. After completing interviews and checking references, the firm of EFL Associates has been selected.

EFL Associates has a 30-year history of successfully identifying and attracting high caliber professionals. They also have extensive experience working with faith-based universities and other non-profit organizations. EFL Associates has its headquarters in Leawood, Kansas, and an office in Denver, Colorado.

The lead consultant working closely with us will be Jan Asnicar, Vice President of EFL Associates. Jan has personally led over 100 searches since joining EFL. Prior to joining EFL Associates, Jan’s career was in higher education and educational consulting. She specialized in assisting institutions with the development of programs for adult learners and, in fact, assisted in the development of IWU’s early Adult, Graduate and Online programs. We are pleased to have her as a partner and believe we will have a highly qualified and diverse pool of candidates as a result of her work.

It is anticipated an active search will begin by mid-January.

The Advisory Committee also reviewed and suggested edits to a Prospectus draft that will be used in the recruitment process. Input from the Advisory Committee significantly contributed to the work of the Presidential Search Committee and will be solicited at various points throughout the search process.

The Search Committee is receiving proposals from firms who may be engaged to assist in the search process. The Search Committee is on target to begin accepting applications early in 2013. The IWU community will be updated as additional information becomes available.

    November 1, 2012

Appointed by the Board of Trustees, the Presidential Search Committee had its first meeting on October 29.

Confidentiality regarding candidate identities is of the utmost importance.  Potential candidates in senior leadership roles may be deterred from making application without the assurance that their application will remain confidential.  Consequently, each Search Committee member has signed a Confidentiality Agreement stating that all applicant information will be kept confidential during and after the search process. The Committee also decided to hire a firm to assist with the search process.  Plans are to have a firm selected and prepared to begin accepting applications by early 2013.

Believing its work will only be successful as it is bathed in prayer, Committee members have committed to fasting and praying one meal a week during the search process.  All IWU community members are encouraged to join the Committee in fasting and prayer.

An Advisory Committee, chaired by Ed Hoover, is being formed to provide an avenue for greater input from the IWU Community.  Community members can expect to hear from one of the Committee members requesting input on some important issues.

The Search Committee plans to have the IWU President-elect assume his or her position on July 1, 2013.
