For the eighth year in a row, Indiana Wesleyan University is partnering with other universities in the Fort Wayne area to collect Easter baskets for the children served by SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) in Northeast Indiana.
IWU students, faculty and staff, friends, and alumni help with the Easter basket project by donating money towards basket-making materials, donating a store-bought basket, or making baskets of their own.
Until April 15, all adult classes at the Fort Wayne Education Center will provide opportunities for students to contribute. Baskets and contributions may also be dropped off at the IWU Alumni Office in Marion.
Marti Brown, Office Assistant at the IWU Fort Wayne Education Center and coordinator of the project, explained that faculty and staff members in Fort Wayne use the funds donated to purchase basket-making materials and candy and assemble additional baskets. Last year over $500 was collected and 213 baskets were donated or assembled.
The Easter basket initiative is sponsored by NIADC, the Northeast Indiana Alumni Directors Consortium.
