The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has extended its accreditation of Indiana Wesleyan University’s Graduate Counseling programs.
The CACREP Board of Directors met in January 2011 for the purpose of rendering accreditation decisions. At this meeting, the Board reviewed reports submitted by the Division of Graduate Counseling Programs at Indiana Wesleyan University. Based upon their review, it was decided to extend the accreditation of the Master of Arts in Community Counseling, Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling/Therapy programs through October 31, 2013. This accreditation extension was granted without condition.
CACREP is a corporate affiliate of the American Counseling Association and sets national training standards for graduate-level programs in counseling. In order to attain full accreditation with no conditions, the Division of Graduate Counseling at IWU demonstrated that it met or exceeded each of the required standards. These include quality of financial support provided by the institution; credentials and professional activities of faculty and clinical coordinators; quality of clinical facilities, practicum, and internships; and quality of all curricular offerings and delivery.
