Spanish Education

The Indiana Wesleyan University Spanish Education program is designed for students who love Hispanic life and culture, and the richness and the expressiveness of the Spanish language. The program is also designed to meet Indiana foreign language standards.

A degree in Spanish Education will equip you with the knowledge needed in your field of study, the skills necessary to convey that knowledge effectively to students, and the dispositions required to be a successful educator and difference-maker in the lives of your students and colleagues. IWU's program requires a minimum of a beginning-level proficiency in Spanish and includes courses in Spanish conversation and composition, Spanish linguistics and phonology, and Spanish grammar. The program also includes courses in Spanish and Latin American history and culture, in addition to courses in Spanish literature. The major includes professional education courses that prepare students to teach in public and private elementary, middle- and high-school classrooms. Coursework and field experiences will allow you to combine theory and practice as you expand your knowledge and develop your God-given gift of teaching.

If you sense a calling to bring a Christian worldview to your teaching career, we invite you to consider majoring in Spanish Education at Indiana Wesleyan University.
