Music Education

The Indiana Wesleyan University Music Education program provides a challenging and nurturing environment in which to develop your God-given gifts in music and teaching. The program is also designed to meet the Indiana fine arts standards, and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

A degree in Music Education combines courses in music theory and ear training, music history and literature, and music technology and computer applications with private lessons and participation in large and small ensembles. IWU’s program also includes professional education courses that prepare students to teach in public and private elementary, middle- and high-school classrooms. Graduates are well equipped with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to be proficient performers and effective educators who make a difference in the lives of their students and colleagues.
