The IWU Math department is a supportive and Christ-centered community dedicated to cultivating a premier mathematical experience in and out of the classroom. The professors who teach courses for Mathematics majors all hold PhDs and are involved in enriching mathematical endeavors beyond classroom lectures, such as regularly meeting with students one-on-one; supporting a math club; having guest lecturers; hosting a math colloquium where students and professors give mathematical presentations on topics not found in standard classes; giving math problem challenges; participating in state, national, and international math competitions; and much more.

Robert Mallison; MS, PhD Assoc Prof; Mathematics bob.mallison@indwes.edu Department - Mathematics Division - Math & Computer Science


Dr. Mallison was born on May 24, 1958, in Hastings, Michigan. He married Norma Mallison, and they have four children Robert III, Lindsay Leck (married to Joe), Lauren, and Lycia Taylor (married to Josh). They also have four grandchildren. After graduating from Marion College, and then from Purdue, Dr. Mallison spent 20 years as an actuary. In 2003, he returned to academia to complete his Ph.D. in Mathematics.

Dr. Mallison is still involved in the actuarial profession. He has also been one of the primary contributors in the development of a Minor in Actuarial Science for Math majors who wish to pursue an actuarial career.
