The Indiana Wesleyan University Elementary Education program is designed to prepare successful, highly qualified teachers for P-6 classrooms in public and private schools. The program is also designed to meet Indiana early childhood and middle childhood content and developmental standards, and the standards developed by the Association for Childhood Education International.

As a student in the School of Teacher Education, you will acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to be a successful educator and make a difference in the lives of students. Classroom instruction and practice teaching placements allow you to combine theory and practice, while exploring the relationship between teaching and biblical principles. As you progress through the Elementary Education program, you will have numerous opportunities for real-life field experiences, beginning in the freshman year and culminating in the student teaching experience. University faculty will mentor and challenge you in the refinement of your pedagogical skills and professionalism. Each stage of the program allows for assessment and reflection as you develop your God-given gift of teaching.

If you sense a calling to bring a Christian worldview to your teaching career, we invite you to consider majoring in Elementary Education at Indiana Wesleyan University.
