Master of Practical Theology
The Master of Practical Theology (MPTh) acts as a bridge for those who plan to apply for a Doctorate of Ministry (DMIN) but do not currently have a Master of Divinity (MDIV) or MDIV equivalency. The Association of Theological Schools defines MDIV equivalence as 72 credit hours in theology, ministry and/or biblical studies. This degree helps those who have at least 30 credits of relevant graduate studies obtain MDIV equivalency and would enable a person to apply for a Doctorate of Ministry program. Students in this program take 18 credits in Wesley Seminary’s unique, integrated Master of Divinity program and 18 additional credits in theology, biblical studies, church history, and ministry.
