hodson hall occupancy

Hodson Hall is very unique in that its community has a mixture of freshmen and upperclassmen. This creates a dynamic for both freshmen and upperclassmen to walk alongside one another, challenge each other as brothers in Christ, and learn from one another in every phase of the college experience.

Hodson's vision is focused around Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another."

Mission Statement

In Hodson hall, we want to create an intentional atmosphere where men are constantly being sharpened to develop excellence in Christian character. Our vision is centered on four main areas which are the physical, social, mental, and spiritual aspectsoflife.

Meet The RD | Ryan Spengler

"I desire to see the students of Hodson Hall engage in the community of Christian men within its walls and experience authentic transformation in all aspects of life."

During my undergraduate studies at Indiana Wesleyan University I lived in Hodson Hall for all four years. Three of those years I served as an RA and ARD for Hodson. Since graduating from IWU, I served as a Graduate Assistant Resident Director at Geneva College in Pennsylvania and have now returned to IWU to serve in Hodson Hall. During my time as an undergraduate, I developed a passion for the community of Godly men that exists within Hodson’s walls. I am excited to serve this community once again.

Community Outreach

Serving at the Grant County Rescue Mission is one way that Hodson Hall engages the broken community surrounding them. Each situation and conversation helps foster a passion to serve even more. Humility and consistency are key aspects of servitude in this unique ministry.

Building History

Hodson Hall was constructed in 1996 originally as a women's residence hall. In 1999, Hodson Hall converted into a men's Residence Hall. The hall was named after Arthur L. and Nelle Hodson who contributed scholarships and building projects that fostered the growth of IWU. Hodson is made up of a mixture of freshmen and upperclassmen and approximately holds up to about 200 students.
