  • Beckett Hall is a mentoring community in which residents are committed to pursuing Christ passionately, challenged to grow holistically, encouraged to support one another daily, and motivated to learn continually.

  • Beckett Hall West (BHW) is the upperclassmen wing of  Beckett Hall. It houses 180 sophomores, juniors and seniors. Because it is a mentoring hall, 60 of these residents mentor two of the incoming freshmen living on Eastside.

For those residents who decide against being a formal mentor, BHW offers many opportunities to be involved in other ways. In order to incorporate the mentoring aspect beyond just the mentor/mentee relationship, we seek to promote growth and community in our residents through regular  Beckett Hall programs and sister unit events.

‘My desire is for Westside residents to become the women God intended them to be, to embrace fully both their strengths and their weaknesses and come to terms with the fact that they are beyond capable.’

     Lesele Huston Portrait

I came to IWU as an undergraduate in 2007. I graduated with a degree in Addictions Counseling in 2009. I spent a year doing wilderness therapy in Utah. After getting married in July 2010, my husband and I felt compelled to return to IWU. I love my job as resident director and feel passionate about meeting girls where they’re at and encouraging them during these pivotal years.

  • Beckett Hall was completed the summer of 2007. While one building, there are actually two halls. Eastside houses freshmen women while Westside houses sophomores seniors. The hall was built in order to purposefully foster mentoring relationships between first-time residents and returning students. Beckett Hall is part of the East Village and mirrors its brother hall, South Hall Complex.

  • At Colonial Oaks, residents of Beckett Hall embrace the opportunity to connect to the community by ministering to the elderly. They gain wisdom and insight as they serve and are mentored by the residents there.
