Becket Hall Occupancy

Beckett Hall West (BHW) is the upperclassmen wing of Beckett Hall. It houses 180 sophomores, juniors and seniors. Because it is a mentoring hall, 60 of these residents mentor two of the incoming freshmen living on Eastside.

For those residents who decide against being a formal mentor, BHW offers many opportunities to be involved in other ways. In order to incorporate the mentoring aspect beyond just the mentor/mentee relationship, we seek to promote growth and community in our residents through regular Beckett Hall programs and sister unit events.

MISSION STATEMENT

Beckett Hall is a mentoring community in which residents are committed to pursuing Christ passionately, challenged to grow holistically, encouraged to support one another daily, and motivated to learn continually.

Meet the RD | Jessica Clark

"My desire is for the women of Beckett Hall West to realize the beauty with which God has created them; to grow holistically into women of passion, conviction, and wisdom as they live in community here at IWU and as they prepare to serve a world in need of God’s truth and love."

While Studying at IWU and serving as a student leader I realized my call to work with students through transformational experiences, such as college; thus I began to seek a career in higher education and student development. After two years of post-college Christian evangelism and graduate studies, my husband and I have returned to Indiana Wesleyan. In many ways it feels like we have come home! I could not imagine a better job than to create an environment of spiritual, personal, and professional growth for college students!

Hometown: Greenfield, OH
Colleges Attended: Indiana Wesleyan University (2012) and Taylor University (2014)
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Masters in Higher Education and Student Development
Best ResLife memory from your college days:
Getting stuck in a tent with other student leaders during a camping trip. The two-day experience was a perfect example of what it means to work in Residence Life: laughter, tears, and getting to know, understand, and encourage others!
Best thing about my job:
Walking alongside students through all seasons of life- both good and bad- and continually growing together in Christ.
Best thing about IWU:
IWU is a place full of creativity, challenge, and support, but most importantly Christ-like community and life transformations.

Community Outreach

At Colonial Oaks, residents of Beckett Hall embrace the opportunity to connect to the community by ministering to the elderly. They gain wisdom and insight as they serve and are mentored by the residents there.

Building History

Beckett Hall was completed the summer of 2007. While one building, there are actually two halls. Eastside houses freshmen women while Westside houses sophomores -seniors. The hall was built in order to purposefully foster mentoring relationships between first-time residents and returning students. Beckett Hall is part of the East Village and mirrors its brother hall, South Hall Complex.
