Dr. Sylvia Goodman, Ed.D., LATC has joined Indiana Wesleyan University as the director for the new entry level Master of Science program in Athletic Training.

Dr. Goodman will commence her duties effective January 28, 2013. Her office will initially be in the Health and Human Performance department.

Dr. Goodman has been in Christian higher education for nearly her entire career.

She comes to Indiana Wesleyan University from Southern Nazarene University (SNU) in Oklahoma, where she had been serving as a dean.

She brings rich athletic training leadership experience, a sincere commitment for our mission and a reputation as an accomplished academic leader. Dr. Goodman is an experienced clinician and educator, having worked in the health professions for nearly three decades.

Dr. Goodman comes highly recommended and her career portfolio includes serving as a faculty member, head athletic trainer and program director of athletic training education for more than twenty years at Eastern Nazarene College.

Most recently, Dr. Goodman served as dean for the College of Business, Education, and Kinesiology at SNU. Her character, core competencies and knowledge of accreditation processes will contribute significantly as she continues the development of the MSAT-EL program outlined by Dr. Adam Thompson and School of Health Sciences colleagues.

Dr. Goodman’s arrival at IWU marks the beginning of the hiring process for a School of Health Sciences academic team as the university prepares for programs offering a Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Athletic Training, both of which are scheduled to start in September 2013. Doctoral programs in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy are expected to start at IWU in the fall of 2014.
