The 17th annual Indiana Wesleyan University Scholarship Telesale will air three nights – January 31 through February 2 – and will feature an online auction for the first time. The online auction will last for a week, from January 31 through February 6.

The telesale has raised about $1.6 million since it first aired in 1996.

The event, which originates in the studios of WIWU-TV 51 on IWU’s Marion campus, will air live from 7 to 10 p.m. each day and will feature a taped preview show at 6:30 p.m. each day.

The telecast will be carried live over the air on WIWU-TV, Channel 51, which is IWU’s campus television station, and will be streamed live on WIWUTV51.com.

Bright House Networks also will broadcast the telesale on Channel 23, which serves Marion,Gas City and Jonesboro. Swayzee Broadband will carry the event on Cable 55, and Oak Hill Cablevision will have coverage on Cable 41.

Area merchants and friends of IWU each year donate hundreds of items to be sold during the telesale.  Call 677-1358 for information about donating items for this year’s telesale.

About 100 volunteers from the Marion community help to stage the event each night – some of them in front of the TV cameras and some behind the scenes. Alan Miller, IWU director of University Relations, will host the telesale for the 14th year.
