“Wealth Creation and Human Flourishing” will be discussed during the third in a series of National Conversations that will be filmed June 27 at One Great George
Street in London. Indiana Wesleyan University initiated and sponsors the event.
Iain Duncan Smith, a Member of the British Parliament, will be one of the speakers at the event, which is co-sponsored by the Indianapolis-based Sagamore Institute, Books & Culture and PBS-affiliated WFYI-TV in Indianapolis.
The conversation will focus on how to balance markets and morality in the 21st century global economy.
Moderators will be Scott Jaschik, Founder and Editor of Inside Higher Ed; Jay Hein, President of the Sagamore Institute; Byron Johnson, Director of the Institute for Studies of Religion at Baylor University, and Ron Blue, Founder of MasterYourMoney.com and President of Kingdom Advisors.
Panelists for the discussions will
be:
- Graeme Leach of the London-based Institute of Directors, a non-profit organization that provides a variety of business services. The Institute has 45,000 members.
- Philip Booth of the Institute of Economic Affairs, a London-based think thank that specializes in economic policies.
- Tom Lehman, a Professor of Economics at IWU.
- Lawrence Reed, President of the New York-based Foundation for Economic Education.
- Ryan Streeter, Distinguished Visiting Fellow and Director of Fiscal Policy for the Sagamore Institute.
- Eve Poole, a professor at Ashridge Business School in London.

The working title for National Conversations is “The University and the Public Square: A Series of Civil Dialogues about Society’s Well-being.” Dr. David Wright, IWU’s Provost, is the founder of the series. Dr. Jerry Pattengale, an Assistant IWU Provost, serves as the Executive Director.
The first of the National Conversations, which focused on health care, was held at the studios of WFYI-TV in Indianapolis. Education was the topic of the second discussion, which was held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
