Indiana Wesleyan University is offering its first dual degree, combining a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Although it is a first for IWU, dual degrees are well established in academic circles. IWU’s School of Nursing and School of Business and Leadership worked together to create the degree.
The degree will require 60 credit hours, with 30 credit hours coming from each of the two schools that established the degree. All MBA hours will come from
existing courses, and two new MSN courses were developed.
The dual degree can be completed in about 33 months, and admission requirements are the same as the current MSN requirements.
The MSN/MBA degree was designed with six objectives. Graduates of the program
should be able to:
- Integrate transformational servant leadership
concepts into the role of a nurse administrator.
- Create an evidence-based approach to health care
management and leadership.
- Utilize effective stewardship of human and
financial resources in health care administration.
- Integrate nursing and business skills to create
effective, efficient and innovative health care systems.
- Design operational and strategic plans for
health care systems based on sound finance, accounting and economic principles.
- Demonstrate proficiency in graduate student
mission learning outcomes.
