Faculty Selection Process


Step One: Application

Part One: Interested applicants may complete the online application. This is a brief biographical overview that assesses education, experience and the basics of mission fit.
Part Two:

Candidates are invited to:

  1. Complete the essay portion of the application process. At this time they will thoughtfully respond to questions related to educational philosophy, Christian testimony, values related to, and commitment to, Christian higher education, scholarship and cultural diversity. The questions can be found online for download or printing, but must be submitted by email, fax or additional mail.
  2.  Emails should be sent to pam.sempel@indwes.edu.

  3. Submit three written references (2 professional, 1 personal). These references should be mailed directly to the Academic Affairs Office: (pam.sempel@indwes.edu).


  4. Submit a copy of all transcripts. (If selected for the position, the final decision is contingent upon the Academic Affairs Office receiving official transcripts for all post-secondary training).

    IWU Faculty and the Academic Dean will conduct:


  5. (A) Phone interviews of selected candidates
    (B) Phone interviews of references


Step Two: Campus Visit and Interview
Two candidates will be invited to come to campus for a day of interviews. At this time, the candidate will meet with the Division, Academic Dean, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, President, and a member of the Division of Religion & Philosophy. The candidate will be asked to teach a class that will be observed by a Search Committee.

Step Three:
Candidates will be informed when the hiring decision is made. Official Transcripts must be received before a contract can be issued.

Step Four:
New faculty and their families will be connected with the Faculty Welcoming Committee.
