Types of Aid
There are many types of aid available to IWU students:
Scholarships
A scholarship is a form of financial assistance that does not need to be repaid. Scholarships are awarded to those who meet certain criteria, such as intended area of study, family history, geographical location, etc. There are various scholarships available to our students.
Grants
A grant is a form of financial assistance that does not need to be repaid. Grants are made available to those with certain levels of financial need or who meet other requirements. There are several types of grants available to many of our students.
Loans
A loan is a form of financial assistance that requires repayment. Repayment of principal typically begins six months after the student’s educational experience has ended. There are several types of loans available to our students.
ADDITIONAL TYPES OF AID
Additional types of aid are available to many IWU students, including tax credits, military/veterans benefits, and more.
Summer Aid
IWU does not typically offer financial aid for May term or summer sessions, but it is possible that some Stafford Loan funds or grant money may be available.
IWU employees and their families who receive a Tuition Waiver during the academic year may receive it for classes taken during May term or summer sessions. The employee who provides the eligibility for this waiver must have completed and submitted the appropriate paperwork to the Human Resources office. Students who participate in the CCCU Tuition Exchange during the academic year may be eligible to receive it for classes taken during May term or summer sessions. Please contact us for more information.
Students who enroll less than full time in either the fall or spring (or both) semesters and received a Pell Grant during those sessions may have some funds remaining that could be used during May term or summer sessions. Please contact us for more information.
Students who have been awarded more than $4,000 in certificates for the Campus Challenge/Wesleyan Bible Bowl program may use some of the additional certificates during May term or summer sessions. Please contact us for more information.
Students who utilize Federal Direct Loans may have some remaining eligibility from the previous academic year that could be used toward summer classes. In order to qualify, you must have completed a FAFSA and must be taking at least six hours in two or more of these sessions. If you meet the criteria, please contact a counselor in the Financial Aid office to determine any remaining eligibility.
