Since 1993 the Legal Information Institute, Cornell Law School, has published electronic editions of core materials for important law school courses. For the 96-97 academic year, the LII offers the following disk-based materials, in multiple formats. All can be purchased and downloaded from the LII's secure server. (By July of 1997, the 1997-98 editions of these same titles, updated and revised, and joined by several additional ones will be available here.)
As in years past these titles have been prepared in Folio Views format. They are available together with a version of Folio's hypertext and full-text search software for MS-Windows that will allow annotation, highlighting, and bookmarks (Folio VIP 3.01). Since U.S. law students and law faculty already have or have ready access to full featured versions of Folio software from LEXIS-NEXIS as part of the "office" suite of software, we are also offering the "infobase" files without software. And for those who simply want to pull this material into a word-processing environment to print or to cut and paste portions into notes, we are offering ".rtf" word-processing files.
In addition to these downloadable materials, the LII offers a CD-ROM collection of historic Supreme Court decisions. For more information on that disk click here.
The LII's Folio Infobase web server allows you to explore the content and a portion of the functionality of the hypertext version of these publications across the Net. Bear in mind, though, that what you can see and do across the Net is less than what is possible at an individual workstation or local area network.
