The Office of the Dean of the Chapel at Indiana Wesleyan University is committed to the transformation of people into the image of Christ for the sake of others, to the glory of God. Our Spiritcare programs are well suited for our adult students both online and onsite, and our Chapel programs are oriented toward the residential undergraduate students at our Marion campus.
We believe that transformation into the image of Christ involves a fourfold interaction between worship, education, fellowship and service. The Office of the Dean of the Chapel provides opportunities to grow in each of these areas through a variety of ministries and experiences both on and off campus.
Our Chapel programs on the residential campus provide transformational opportunities through Worship, Education, Fellowship and Service:
Chapel is a forum for worship, spiritual encouragement, community development, information sharing and cultural enrichment. The primary essence of Chapel is spiritual, and all Chapels have strong elements of praise and worship. Information sharing and academic connections to our lives are also included. Chapels are formed and completed within the context of a Christian environment where we seek to love God with all our hearts, souls and minds.
Surveys of first-time freshmen indicate that the number one reason for choosing IWU is the spiritual atmosphere. At Indiana Wesleyan University, you will discover many opportunities to strengthen and affirm your faith. As a new student, you will participate in a “World Changers” class in which the fundamentals of the Christian faith are outlined from an evangelical perspective. You will be encouraged to explore and discuss your Christian beliefs and how they can be applied to your daily life.
The Office of the Dean of the Chapel provides opportunities for students to practice servant leadership. Student body chaplains, residence hall chaplains, the student body outreach coordinator and residence hall outreach coordinators partner together to show leadership principles to our resident students through the planning and implementation of prayer initiatives, small group Bible studies, campus-wide outreach activities and residence hall outreach activities.
Fellowship on campus at Indiana Wesleyan University offers young adults the opportunity for small group connections within the larger student population. Students gather regularly to encourage and support one another in spiritual matters, academics and athletics. These groups provide unique opportunities for accountability and spiritual growth, creating relationships that remain long after the college experience.
Founded in 1994 by Dr. Jim Lo, World Impact has been a significant component of the IWU experience for hundreds of students over the years. Lives have been changed, callings have been clarified, and God has done incredible things in and through the lives of those who have been a part of this unique outreach of the University. Since its inception, the name “World Impact” has been associated with cross-cultural short-term mission trips, but recently the department has been expanded to include a variety of University-sponsored local, domestic and global service opportunities.
