Participants are welcome to stay on campus for lunch in the Baldwin Dining Room. If dining at Baldwin, it is strongly suggested you indicate your intention to stay for lunch at the time of registration. Participants are also welcome to visit one of our local restaurants.

Superintendent Glenda Ritz is committed to working with educators, parents, policy makers, business leaders, and community leaders to ensure that the Department of Education provides the support needed to our public schools to give Indiana children an education of the highest quality. We are pleased to have Superintendent Ritz share with this year’s participants.

“Common Core: An Update” - Globe Theater
This session will feature a representative from the Indiana Department of Education who will provide the most current information on the status of the adoption of new academic standards in Indiana. 
“Teaching from A Renewed Spirit” – Jones Banquet Room
Dynamic and engaging speaker, Dr. Lenny Luchetti, offers a unique perspective into the art of teaching by focusing on the need for teachers to continuously renew their spirit. 
“Passport to Innovative Education” – Bedford Banquet Room
Leah Fear and Michelle White of Ambassador Enterprises offer a unique approach to improving the culture of schools by strengthening character and building relationships to empower teachers.
“Legislative Education Roundtable” – Henry West Banquet Room
Former superintendent, Dr. Al Long, will lead this moderated Q&A with elected representatives of the Indiana General Assembly currently serving on the Indiana Education Commission.
“Professional Development Differently” – Century Dining Room
Dr. Don Jacobs, Founder and CEO of 3rd Learning PLS, will offer participants an alternative, online approach to professional development that is research-based and designed to improve teaching efficacy.
Developing and Analyzing a Flipped Classroom” – Leedy Banquet Room

Physics professor Dr. Roberto Ramos, will provide an introduction to the “flipped classroom” where students view online lecture videos outside the classroom and engage in group-based active learning inside the classroom. He will discuss current trends, results from his own experience in flipping, and provide general suggestions on how to explore this pedagogy.

3:00 Final Celebration – Philippe Auditorium
Dr. Brad Oliver, Associate Dean and State Board of Education member will offer final remarks regarding the need to teach with passion and purpose. Door prizes will be offered, including two Kindle Fires (must sign up at the IWU Adult Enrollment Services Table for the Kindle drawing and must be present to win!).
