  • The Learning Unit:
A Metric for Time and Level of Participation

As a means for faculty to get a better perspective on the time commitments that are required to complete the various courses, workshops, and learning experiences that comprise the Learning Academy, each offering will be coded in relation to "Learning Units." A Learning Unit (LU) is equivalent to 10 hours of involvement (e.g., onsite participation, online participation, reading and personal research). For example, a course listed as equivalent to 2 LUs would require approximately 20 hours of participation over a specified period of time.
