The Adventure Learning program offers Soul Search Adventure Trips, led by trained student trip leaders, throughout the school year. Soul Search Adventure Trips (SSA) take place over several weekends during the fall semester (including Fall Break), as well as weeklong Spring Break trips.
Our hope and mission for these trips is to provide safe, fun, and challenging opportunities for students to slow down and experience God while surrounded by his creation. In an effort to help reduce distractions, we implement what we call a “high tech disconnect”, which simply means that no phones, computers, or other electronic devices will be allowed on the trip.
What to Expect
Activities on these trips include rock climbing, backpacking, and kayaking. No prior outdoor experience is necessary. However, each one of these activities is physically strenuous, and each activity can be dangerous.
All trips will include backcountry camping, which means no access to running water or bathrooms. The trip leaders will show you how to purify water from streams and rivers in the area, as well as how to handle the lack of a nearby restroom. You will need to provide some food for the trip, including your own breakfast and lunch. Group dinners will be paid for out of the cost of the trip. Trip prices may decrease depending upon participation.
