The state of Indiana requires all future teachers to take Praxis exams to determine if they possess the requisite content knowledge to teach their subject. These are standardized national tools that measure students’ academic skills in various areas. They provide assessments of content knowledge and academic skills to state education agencies who license individuals for teaching.
Education Testing Services (ETS) is the official provider of Praxis I and Praxis II exams. All Transition to Teaching candidates will be required to pass the Praxis I exams (consisting of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) as well as the appropriate content specific Praxis II exam prior to admission to the Transition to Teaching program.
