The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Teacher Leadership program is offered in an online format and may also be offered at locations in Indiana. The program is designed for practicing classroom teachers seeking an advanced degree in teacher leadership. Candidates will complete a 33 credit hour M.Ed. program which aligns to the national Teacher Leader Model Standards. Candidates may select from one of two specializations: elementary or secondary teaching. Courses are designed to promote and support teacher leadership as a vehicle for transforming schools to meet the needs of 21st century learners.

Prior to applying to the program, candidates are responsible for being knowledgeable of the licensure requirements of their state and whether or not the major they’ve selected will satisfy the requirements of the state for which the candidate may be seeking additional licensure.


The Professional Education Unit at Indiana Wesleyan University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), 2010 Massachusetts Ave. N.W., Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036 (202-466-7496), the organization responsible for professional accreditation of teacher education. The Master of Education program may be completed online, or onsite (with online components) at various locations in Indiana and Ohio.
