  • Continuing Studies for Teacher Leaders

Continuing Studies for Teacher Leaders is a graduate-level, non-degree program for teachers seeking an additional area of licensure. Upon completion of prescribed courses and required Praxis exams, students will earn an Indiana Rules 2002 license in the additional area. The program offers effective teaching strategies and practical approaches to educational challenges. Participants take courses with a cohort group of adults in a nontraditional format that provides an environment conducive to adult learning. This program can make it possible for you to reach your career goals without putting your life on hold.

The Indiana Wesleyan University Continuing Studies for Teacher Leaders program currently offers a course of study designed to prepare teachers for additional Indiana licensure in Exceptional Needs: Mild Intervention (ELM). Your license will qualify you to teach students with special needs in areas such as specific learning disabilities, cognitive disabilities, orthopedic impairment, autism, and emotional disorders. If you should ever relocate to another state, you may have the potential to transfer your license through a reciprocal agreement (around 40 other states currently have such agreements). Please contact your state’s licensing agency for specific requirements.
